چکیده
Abstract Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global health threat, and antimicrobial use in animal production for growth enhancement or prophylaxis contributes to the development of AMR. A cross-sectional study was conducted investigate prevalence methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) poultry farm attendants Kebbi, North-Western Nigeria. total 207 cloacal nasal swabs were randomly collected from four farms comprising 50 samples each only 7 attendants. The analysed using routine bacteriological culture identification techniques. Presumptive MRSA isolates confirmed by PCR assay AMR profiles evaluated Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method. Of examined, 37.5 % (75/200) layer birds tested positive 71.4 (5/7) positive. All susceptible vancomycin, with an index ˃ 0.3. findings this indicated colonization chickens humans multidrug resistant MRSA, thus highlighting potential role sources transmission multidrug-resistant strains vice versa.

Patients with surgical wounds have been reported to be at high risk of MRSA carriage and infection. The prevalence and antibiotic resistance pattern of this organism in the orthopaedic ward of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria-Nigeria, a 547-bed Nigerian hospital, were thus studied. A total of 185 isolates of Staphylococcus aureus were confirmed from 217 samples taken fro...
متن کاملPrevalence of Vancomycin Resistance in Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus
Background & Aims: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common pathogens in nosocomial infections. Vancomycin is the most important therapeutic drug of choice for treatment of infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains. Therefore, vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) or vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus (VISA) strains are warning...
متن کاملEnhancement of Antibiotic Activity and Reversal of Resistance in Clinically Isolated Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus by Trachyspermum ammi Essential Oil
Background and objectives: Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has resulted in a worldwide threat due to the virulence and broad distribution in the hospital and community. Novel antibiotics are required to combat the emergence of multidrug-resistant bacteria such as MRSA. In the present study, the antibacterial activity of Trachyspermum ammi es...
